I'm really interested in learning more of the history of Cambodia and she seems an amazing writer.
I really can't decide which of her books to pick up first. "In the shadow of the Banyan" or "Music of the Ghosts".
I know the first one is from the perspective of a child living through the Khmer Rouge genocide, and the second one about a person living in the US and returning to Cambodia after the genocide.
Which one is a better overall novel? Also I'm aware the subject matter is very dark but would like to know if the books are especially graphic, and which one of the two is less so. Thanks a lot.
