in the hunt for a new series to help break me out of a reading slump that i’ve been in since finishing DCC this inevitable ruin
my favorite books all have lots of world building, a host of characters with great development and some fun/joy mixed in.
i mainly read fantasy/romantasy and if there’s romance i generally prefer if it’s a subplot or if it doesn’t take away from the actual story. but sometimes the smutty books are fun too🤷♀️
bonus points if there’s an amazing audiobook (though nobody does it like jeff hays)
series i’ve loved: throne of glass, dungeon crawler carl, zodiac academy/sins of the zodiac, legends of thezmarr, city of brass
series i couldn’t get into: realm of the elderlings (great writing but i just didn’t find myself having fun with them), the road of bones, the legacy/lady of darkness, compelling fates saga

If you like Sci-Fi there is “The Long Way Home to a Small Angry Planet.” by Becky Chambers. It’s mostly a slice of life, getting to know the characters and seeing them live their space lives.
