So I’ve recently made the discovery that some audiobooks can really make or break whether or not I enjoy a book. I recently listened to the book Open Wide by Jessica Gross, and I totally felt that the voice actor did not fit the voice of the main character. It bothered me because while I enjoyed the story itself, I feel like I would’ve enjoyed it in it’s entirety if I had simply just physically read it myself and envisioned the characters doing/saying the things with my own perception. It’s a weird story and the main character is weird, and the voice… did not fit. The way the voice actor read it did not give to its weirdness, if you know what I mean.

I’m not avoiding audiobooks necessarily, but now I’m being picky with what I want to listen to next. I don’t want to have a good story ruined for me because I didn’t like how it was told to me. And on the flipside, has anyone experienced an amazing story because it was audiobook instead of physically reading?
