Put simply, I’m looking for books on the psychology of anti-establishment belief systems. Specifically why some people distrust mainstream institutions and consensus experts, while placing trust in controversial or outsider figures who present themselves as “truth tellers.”
Or books about why some people see compassionate, mainstream voices as manipulative or corrupt, but view abrasive or controversial figures as more authentic and trustworthy. Are there good psychology or sociology books on this phenomenon?
