I'm looking for a book focused on a relationship with a healthy dose of pining and yearning. I'd like smart back and forth dialogue. Teasing and tension. I'm not fussed about genre but I'm assuming most books that fit under this description would be romance. Happy to read smut too 😂

If you want yearning plus sharp banter, I’d look at Emily Henry. Her couples usually have that slow burn tension where you can feel the pining under every conversation.
Also maybe try The Hating Game if you haven’t already. It leans hard into the teasing back and forth before things finally crack. It’s very much that bottled up feelings energy.
If you’re open to fantasy with romance woven in, A Court of Mist and Fury definitely delivers on longing and payoff. It’s heavier on the drama, but the tension is there.
Curious if you prefer more contemporary settings or are you good with anything as long as the chemistry feels real?
