I’m looking for some book recommendations for my 12 year old! I tried the whole, hey look at this cute book about friends or adventures and it was a no go. My kid’s not into any of the “norms“ ex Harry Potter, Hobbit, Wrinkle in Time, Bridge of Terabithia. Tried Howl’s Moving Castle but it’s looking bleak so I don’t think it’s going to get finished. Likes are horror genre and dog books. Looking for 300+ pages also because this kid can read like crazy and I’m constantly buying books💰📚(our local library is grim and void to say the least).

I don’t have any suggestions to offer but…
If you are based in the US you can look into the interlibrary loan program. Most libraries can borrow books from other libraries for you. You can also check out Libby and get access to electronic books. A lot of libraries also have reciprocity with other libraries – i.e. you have our card you can borrow from other libraries, too. If you have Prime there is always Prime reading as well.
