I just caught the thread asking about books that don't hold up, and I was wondering what people do about that, if that fuels any sort of creative response or anything like that.

For example, do you save excerpts into their commonplace books so you can revisit those passages, maybe add your own thoughts as an afterward. Do you make notes or write essays about the book, what worked and what didn't (I usually find that helpful and fun). Do you make annotations to out of date nonfiction books? Do you rewrite or remix the book, pulling out the material that no longer works, reimagine the entire thing, or mash it up with another work? Or does this all seem like blasphemy?

Maybe this is the wrong subreddit to raise this question, I just find that a bad book or a disappointing experience is an opportunity for creation.
