I'm coming towards the end of Babbel by RF Kuang, and I developed quite the bug for historical fantasy. I'm specifically looking for books that engage with the historical narrative (eg: Johnathan Strange & Mr Norrell), and don't just use it as a flavouring.
Any time period, or part of the world is fine. Frankly — the weirder, the better!

**You’re looking for the works of Tim Powers**. He writes meticulously researched “secret histories” where his fantasy narrative explains and accounts for historical events.
