I'm starting a book club for people who want to get back into reading or are new to reading. I want the club to be coed in the 20s-30s age range. I'm looking for a good starting book to ease people into it. I personally love classics, but I don't think it's a good start for the book club; plus others might not want to read that.
Ideally it would be entertaining while having enough substance to spark discussion and not have too difficult of a prose. Any suggestions? Thanks!

If you want something real short and science fiction is ok, try All Systems Red by Martha Wells
*Annihilation* by Jeff VanderMeer. It’s short at around 200 pages, absolutely LOADED with things to talk about, and just generally one of the most fascinating stories I’ve ever read.
To me it’s a perfect first book for a book club, especially so because of the length to substance ratio. So many possible discussion questions!
True Grit by Charles Portis
h{{The Martian}}
Oxford Soju Club by Jinwoo Park could be interesting. It’s the only novel I’ve ever read with North Korean protagonists. It’s about a North Korean spy network and their American adversaries in England.
