As the title suggests, I’m looking for one (or several) new books to read, but I haven’t found the right one yet.
One of my main requirements is that there’s no romance. I’m much more interested in stories that focus on strong friendships or a brotherhood-type bond. It doesn’t have to revolve around just two characters. I actually really enjoy stories centered around a tight-knit group. I also really enjoy mystery elements , like in The Secret History by Donna Tart. I love when there’s tension, secrets, psychological depth, or a slow unraveling of events that keeps you thinking and plot-twist obviously. At the same time, I also appreciate simpler, quieter stories set in nature.
I also love historical fiction and don’t have a specific time period in mind I’m open to anything from ancient history to the 20th century. I’d just prefer to avoid futuristic settings, sci-fi, aliens, or anything too technology-focused.I’m also open to fantasy or supernatural elements (ghosts, magic, folklore, etc…)
I’m looking for something emotionally intense and thought-provoking a book that really stays with you. I don’t want something flat or purely plot-driven without emotional depth.
I don't know if that helps but, I’ve watched Supernatural and absolutely loved it. I'm curently reading Mayflies by Andrew O'Hagan and The Emperor of Gladness, which I for now I really enjoy.
