It's one of my favorite genres to read and I like to re-visit these books because they can be browsed through to find something for almost every Life situation.
I'm German and the "classics" in this type of Genre are Lichtenbergs "Sudelbücher" and Kurt Tucholsky's notebooks by the same name. There are also Maximilien La Rochefoucaulds "Maxims" and Erasmus von Rotterdams "Adages" – which are almost all from central to Western Europe.
Do you know of any other books in this Genre that are probably a bit more modern and maybe from other cultural backgrounds?
