I wasn’t a consistent reader before. Honestly, I’m not even sure if I am one yet. I used to read maybe one book a year, usually something recommended on YouTube or Instagram. Sometimes I would buy books and then they would just sit on my shelf collecting dust.
But something changed this year. I started reading in January and picked up The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet by Becky Chambers, recommended to me by ChatGPT, and I loved it. In February, I read The Storied Life of A. J. Fikry by Gabrielle Zevin, and I loved that too.
Now I’m looking for my next read. I did search on ChatGPT again, but I’m not completely sure about those recommendations. I’ve heard a lot about this subreddit and how people here give great suggestions, so I thought I’d come here for help.
A little about my reading taste. I’ve read Matt Haig, Fredrik Backman, and Andy Weir in the past. I mostly enjoy fiction. I prefer stories that feel uplifting or hopeful, even if that’s not the main intention of the book. I like sci-fi, especially the simpler kind, not very complex language. Overall, I just want a good story that makes me feel good after reading it and gives a broader perspective on life, something that reminds me that things can get better.
I’m sorry if I didn’t explain everything clearly. Thank you for reading and for any recommendations you share.
P.S. English is not my first language.
