i started reading when i bought erma bombeck's family the ties that bind and gag at a bookstore for only 0.8 cents. its my first book and im about to finish it. i also have different books that i purchased. recently my girlfriend gifted me a collin classics herman melville moby dick. i was so happy because i have knowledge regarding sea pirates and ships because i watched pirates of the carribean and one piece. reading the first 6 pages made me question my brain as i cannot understand how they construct sentences and the terms that were used was too hard for me as it is not my first language. i want to complete this book as i see it as my achievement or my goal this year. pls give me tips on how to read it and understand it. thanks a lot!

In Matilda, Roald Dahl writes something to the effect of, “Don’t worry about the parts you don’t understand. Just let the words wash over you.”
Try not to stress yourself out over comprehension, especially if you are just reading for enjoyment. The more you practice the better your comprehension will become. Enjoy the prose that you do understand, and maybe in a year or two you can open up to a random page and impress yourself with newfound understanding of the work.
