ironic thrilling “comedy” where the MC puts themselves into situations that worsen during the plot and get weirder (like The Gread Swindle or the Safdie movies : Marty Supreme, Good Times)

Hey all. I'm looking for a book that gets you very very invested in the flow of the story and of what the fuck is going on, where every little stupid decision leads to a terrible follow up.

Crude humor, irony is appreciated ! Background or important social commentary is also in my list for this, it's something I really like.

Bonus point if the characters are full pieces of shit or partly pieces of shit.

My favorite book in this style is The Great Swindle by Pierre Lemaître, and I've just gone through the Safdie brothers movies and oh boy, do they stratch that hitch in the best way possible. Also the Kennit povs in the Liveship Traders trilogy as a nice reference.
