I'd like to start a book club at the bar where I work. The idea would be to feature a new book each month (hopefully teaming up with a local bookstore) and have an associated cocktail special. I'm looking for novels that either have a specific drink mentioned in them, or have a specific time period or location that is strongly associated with a drink we could feature.
I don't want the books to be about alcohol/drinking explicitly, just to have a fun connection to a drink we could offer. And, of course, I want it to be a genuinely good book – something that will be fun to read, appeal to a diverse-ish audience, and lend itself to a nice discussion.
I'm personally partial to historical fiction so have some ideas there, but would like to find an array of genres. Any suggestions?
