Shuggie Bain was sad, but Young Mungo actually destroyed me and I'm not ready to go through that again. Is Douglas Stuarts new book comparably traumatic as YM or is it the "safer" read?
I'm fully aware that Stuart will probably never write a fun beach read, so I'd be braced for a level of sadness.

I got the advance reader copy of John of John and its a brilliant book!!! Its atmospheric and evocative and I must say that it’s positively hopeful!!! I enjoyed that book a lot! U should definitely try it
