Suggest me a book that feels like A League of Their Own (movie) or Fried Green Tomatoes (movie or book) – possibly The Help falls under this category (this category may be entirely made up by my feelings). Not sports-based in particular, but strong women, found family/community feel – minority stories welcome. Books that take place in the first half of the 20th century and during the post-War period.

CONFESSIONS OF A FAILED SOUTHERN LADY by Florence King fits the bill, I think. (Additionally, it’s one of the funniest books I’ve ever read.)
The Giver of Stars, by Jojo Moyes
Cold Sassy Tree. It’s not an exact fit, but I feel like it fits the vibe.
