I just finished A Memory Called Empire and A Desolation Called Peace, looking for suggestions. I have read most of the classic authors Heinlein, Asimov, Clark, Bova, Le Guin, Herbert, etc. And newer work like Scalzi, Weir. Also like Gibson and Stevenson.

Would love some suggestions. Thanks in advance.

    1. Have you read any Simak?  Way Station, City, Ring Around the Sun are all from the 50s/early 60s.  Really neat stories from a great imagination.

    4. Surprised no one has mentioned The Expanse yet.

Space opera about the human race colonizing the solar system and the resulting political factions of Earth, Mars, and the asteroid belt, plus a creepy alien protomolecule. Great stuff.

    5. Space opera? Lee & Millers Liaden Universe.

Nathan Lowell has his solar clipper series. Multiple volumes and spinoffs and sequels Very fun cozy sci-fi coming of age story. A lot happens but nothing overblown.

Ever read any Egan? Axiomatic is a short story compilation that is still mind bending, despite its release in 1995.

    8. Currently finishing up Hyperion and it’s amazing! While it is sci fi it doesn’t go the way you may think, it tells much more human stories in the same way “Love, Death, and Robots” did.

    9. If you like military sci-fi i whole heartedly recommend Expeditionary Forces and Undying Mercenaries.
