I'm in a bit of a reading rut and looking for something unexpected to get me back in the habit. I tend to like things off the beaten path– books that don't always make sense when you try to explain to someone what it's about.
Some examples of things I've really liked in the past that I would put in this category: Patricia Wants to Cuddle by Samantha Allen and Mostly Dead Things by Kristen Arnett.

I don’t know the books you mentioned, but your description made me think of Agape Agape by William Gaddis.
Walking on Glass by Iain M Banks.
Three stories in one, told in parallel, a love struck man, a paranoid conspiracist and a man trapped in an impossible situation, all connected and unconnected to each other.
I have admittedly not read the books you mentioned, but the books that come to mind are Susanna Clarke’s Piranesi, Lanny by Max Porter, The Employees by Olga Ravn, The Library at Mount Char by Scott Hawkins, and do look up trigger warnings before picking it up, but Earthlings by Sayaka Murata if you want something truly fucked up and unlike anything else.
I’m reading Mostly Dead Things now!
