I've realized than I can get through battle and combat scenes but for the most part they are the least interesting written aspects of the book. I enjoy that it happens and knowing the results, but Im more interested in plot movement, character development, and character interactions. So I guess I'm wondering are there series where combat happens and the characters even experience it, but its not really the focus of the writing? I highly prefer fantasy worlds, and long running series but I'm not opposed to a standalone novel.

Kushiel’s Dart by Jacqueline Carey — there is some combat but the main character doesn’t fight, it’s mostly focused on politics.
