Recently I've been reading old school Sci Fi. I'm working my way through C.S. Lewis's Space Trilogy, and there's a charm to the old sci-fi that's different from the appeal of modern sci-fi.

What old science fiction do you consider to be worth reading?

    1. Brave New World by Aldous Huxley. Anything by Kurt Vonnegut but he was a bit later time period.

      Good luck!

Some of Asimov is pre-60s. I think most of his stuff probably has the older feel you’re looking for. My favorite is the Robot stuff, but the Galactic Empire has kind of that old sci-fi adventure feel.

Old anthologies / magazines is where that sort of writing was generally first published. You might also wanna look at Harlon Ellison.

    4. Asimov’s Foundation series is one of the best from this period.

See also Ray Bradbury, The Martian Chronicles, Fahrenheit 451, Something Wicked This Way Comes, There Will Come Soft Rains.

      Arthur C. Clarke, Childhood’s End.

Alfred Bester, The Stars My Destination.

These are widely considered some of the best science fiction novels ever written, and had a massive impact on later writing in the field.
