I have read nothing but devastating books this year. I just look at reviews and say, I will give it a try. Just the star ratings, not the actual content. I am to the point that I dont even want to read anymore. Yes, they are good, but I need a bloody break. PLEASE SUGGEST ME SOME FICTION THAT IS WELL WRITTEN/GOOD CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT AND won't run me bone dry from bawling the entire time. Do those even exsist? Gosh I hope so.

Fredrick Backman is a great option. Many of his novels are very redemptive and cathartic, even the ones with heavy emotion. Maybe avoid the Beartown series for now. You might also try Remarkably Bright Creatures.
