So I'm looking for horror/supernatural stories that take place in the countryside, southern vibes, American Gothic, stuff along the lines of that. I don't really have a preference for what kind of horror, slasher, cosmic, just give me something scary like the Redding or The Catchers.

Vampires of El Norte by Isabel Cañas- Gothic horror set in historic Mexico (modern south Texas) during the Mexican American war. A cowboy and a rancher’s daughter flee from Texas Rangers and Vampires.
Lone Women by Victor LaValle- A Black woman sets out on her own to become a homesteader in Montana while carrying a dark family secret with her.
The Buffalo Hunter Hunter by Stephen Graham Jones- A pastor’s diary tells the story of a Blackfoot vampire in Montana on a revenge mission.
I’m currently reading one (although set in Massachusetts) – the Auctioneer, by Joan Samson. It was published in 1976, and feels pretty retro, but so far in a good way. Can’t give it a recommendation yet, as I’m not so far into it.
