For context, I just completed the 1200-page The Count of Monte Cristo, and it was fabulous. I have some more classics like Great Expectations lined up in my TBR, but I want to pick something up that is written in modern times instead.
I usually prefer thrillers with an excellent plot twist in the end, and have already completed booktok famous stuff like The Silent Patient, Alice Feeney's archives and so on. So, give me recommendations for a thriller book along the same lines. Thanks!

If you want a fast paced thriller with a strong twist, try The Silent Patient, Gone Girl, or The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, all gripping and hard to put down.
Read Tiger Tiger. Its another revenge story but this time set in 70s space future
After 1200 pages of The Count of Monte Cristo, I don’t blame you for wanting something punchy and modern.
If you liked the twisty, slightly dark vibe of The Silent Patient, you might enjoy **The Kind Worth Killing** by Peter Swanson. It moves fast and keeps shifting under your feet in a fun way.
Also maybe try **Shutter Island** by Dennis Lehane if you haven’t already. It’s not new, but it reads very modern and the atmosphere pulls you in quickly.
Sometimes after a big classic, I find something a little tighter and darker helps reset the brain.
