I'm kind of interested in childhood rights and Ocean at the End of the Lane has historically been a really important text for me in that regard. I like how it lays out the way that parental power can be a form of violence plainly and is aware that hurting someone doesn't stop at physical violence. Obviously though, I'm trying to steer away from recommending Gaiman to people, given the revelations about him. Does anyone know any books that manage to deal with adult power like that, while still sort of falling in the YA or suitable for younger readers box?
No problem if not, I know it's kind of theme rather than vibe based
