Please suggest me a book where two people fall in love, i dont care if it takes them 500 pages to get together, but i want the butterflies in the stomach, the flushed cheeks, even racing heartbeats cause by nervous.

Ideally i want this to start out between just two of them, like a little secret no one else knows about. i want to read about they missing each other, them being nervous, anxious even, when they about seeing the other person the next day. The feeling you get when you have to pace around in the room and stares at a text for 15 mins before you even hit send.

    • Please no one sided yearning
    • They can't be nothing but friends for the past 10 years and decide to be together
    • NO INSTANT LOVE, they can think the other person is special but no wanting to take them to bed immediately kind of special

I'm actually leaning more toward good fiction with a romance side plot rather than just a straight romance book. i dont mind any trigger warnings and i'm totally fine with a sad ending. tbh, Id lowkey love to read about two people who are deeply in love but it ends in a sad way.

Please drop your recs, i appreciate any suggestions <333

    1. The His Dark Materials trilogy by Philip Pullman very much has this toward the end of its third part. Hard to say more without spoilers but it’s a beautiful, growing, slowly realised love which profoundly affects the emotional tone and ending of the trilogy.

The books themselves are alternate universe fantasy which begins more YA and grows as the characters do.

    2. That’s quite a few boxes to check…I’ll just go with the first few that popped into my noggin’…

Harold and Maude by Colin Higgins

Be Ready with Bells and Drums by Elizabeth Kata

      Tim by Colleen McCullough

      Happy hunting, Pleasant reading

    3. Hmm … *I Hope This Finds You Well* might qualify.

I’m not sure if these are one-sided yearning honestly … both sides yearn, it seems to me, but I’ve been going through a ye olde romance phase, and *Regency Buck* is one of the best, most page-turning, plot-twisting books I’ve ever read.
