(Audio)Book to read after pet death

Hey everyone!

My beloved childhood dog (golden retriever) has to get put down later today. I’ve been having a really hard time sleeping the last few days in anticipation and expect it will get worse after the event. Putting on an audiobook at bedtime has helped, but I’ve just finished the last book on my TBR and I don’t know what else to read to help me with my thoughts when I’m alone.

I’m looking for something light. I enjoy fantasy/sci-fi a lot, particularly books with good world building, but I’m open to pretty much anything. I don’t want anything with death, and probably nothing with pets as a focal point (brief mentions are probably okay, but I’d prefer no pets). I read on Libby, but I know every library’s offerings are a little different, so I don’t know how much that will affect recommendations.

Searching online for books to read after pet death return mostly suggestions for books about pets, which I don’t want.
