My attention span is fried and I want to try to get back into reading. Are there any short books/books that aren't as daunting that are still entertaining for someone in their 20s?
The Stranger by Camus is brilliant and only about 120 pages – proper existential crisis vibes without the commitment. Of Mice and Men hits hard too and you can smash it out in an afternoon

Button, Button: Uncanny Stories by Richard Matheson is a highly entertaining short story collection.

If you like short fiction/novellas, I would recommend both of Ted Chiang’s collections, Stories of Your Life and Exhalation

A Short Stay in Hell by Steven Peck is great

Check out the “Rogues” “Dangerous Women” or the “Warriors” anthologies. They are collections of short stories from different authors of different Genres based on the above archetypes. They are short stories so individually don’t require much commitment, and it might help you find authors whose bigger works you might like
