I, like many others before me, have just finished Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn and it was exceptional.
I'm looking for similar modern day missing person novels, packed with great characters and a tight plot. Bonus points if your suggestion includes elements of folk horror/the occult.
Thank you in advance.

Sharp Objects and Dark Places by Gillian Flynn are also great.
Not another missing person by Gillian mcallister
The Missing Half by Ashley Flowers
Where Things Come Back by John Corey Whaley
We Are All the Same in the Dark by Julia Heaberlin
You may also find some nonfiction books interesting, such as anything about the Dyatlov Pass incident (I’ve read one called Dead Mountain but there are only theories about this) or the Andes Mountain crash (Alive is a good one).
