I decided to read Tell Me Lies after I looked up the show and became intrigued by the premise.
And omg.
This is some manipulative stuff 😭
There’s one part where Stephen details everything he memorized about his situationship Diana, in order to mold their interactions in his favour and give off a good impression, and it was literally giving the show You.
And now I’m at the part where Stephen is inner-monologuing how he’s manipulating his relationship with his mom, in order to provide a kinship on mutually having toxic moms with Lucy
It just makes me think how different my college experience was, and how lucky I am that I never had to go through this toxic mess.

ugh stephen is literally the worst 😭 that whole thing with memorizing diana’s details just to manipulate her was so gross and the way he weaponizes trauma bonding with lucy about their moms… its like watching a masterclass in psychological manipulation
honestly carola lovering did such a good job making him genuinely unsettling without making it feel over the top you know? like these people actually exist and thats the scary part 💀
you’re so right about being lucky to avoid that mess in college lol some of us definitely dodged bullets without even realizing it at the time
