Hey Everyone!!
I want to get into Greek mythology but I know very little about it. Just bits and pieces like an average joe.
I’m looking for books that let me experience the myths as stories, not just lists of gods, summaries, or explanations.
For example:
I’ve tried Mythos by Stephen Fry. I like it it’s fun but the constant fourth-wall breaks, modern jokes and references and commentary made it hard to fully immerse myself in the story. I want something that makes me feel like I’m living the myth, not being told it. Either way, i still plan to finish it and his trilogy but It wasn’t what i expected.
Ideally, I’d love:
• Continuous storytelling
• Engaging characters and dialogue
• A feeling of epic drama or adventure
I’ve heard The Song of Achilles and Circe by Madeline Miller might fit, but I’m open to any suggestions, whether modern retellings or classic sources like The Iliad or The Odyssey.
Thanks in advance for any recommendations!

Maybe *The Lost Books of the Odyssey* by Zachary Mason.
