First read it when I was in the 5th grade, then again in 2022. It was still so good I finished in a few hours!
I really liked the past and modern day narratives being intertwined.
Stanley was a great character that I related because despite what he went through he was able to adapt, persevere and come out stronger.
The themes of fairy tales and friendship also really got to me.
I got bit by the reading bug again and was hoping to find some other page turners. I'm looking for smiliar books in terms of quality. They don't have to have these exact themes, but if it helps with recommendations included them.
Preferably books for adults, please.

honestly, Holes is such a masterpiece – the way Sachar weaves those timelines together is chef’s kiss. you might dig The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid for that dual timeline thing, or if you want something with similar themes of friendship and resilience, try A Man Called Ove. their both page-turners that hit those emotional beats without being too heavy.
Have you read Princess Bride? It might work for you.
