Hi, my daughter loves reading and at her last parents evening her teacher told us that she is reading at a super high level for her age and that this is informing her wirting etc etc so I wanted to try and expose her to age appropriate books which are written in different styles or slightly more challenging than what she reads currently (Jacqueline Wilson etc)

    Many thanks !

Have you checked the Percy Jackson series yet? My nephew went through same thing around that age and those books really helped bridge the gap between kid books and more complex stuff. The writing style is bit more sophisticated but still totally age appropriate and the mythology aspect makes it super engaging for smart kids who want something meatier

    2. A Series of Unfortunate Events is a lot of fun and perfect for that age. It plays with language and storytelling conventions in clever ways.

Grounded by Megan Morrison is a really brilliant retelling of Rapunzel. It’s age appropriate but has thought provoking themes that I enjoyed as an adult.

Anne of Green Gables is a great “beginner” classic novel.
