For me, personally, it’s East of Eden. It’s okay – I had to slog through and gave up. I felt it lacked depth and the characters were one-dimensional.
I’m rather fond of books such as The Count of Monte Cristo, Les Misérables, The Night Circus, The Perfume…

What book did you find overrated and what book did you like the most? I long for a book with high-class storytelling…

Oh man, for me it was Infinite Jest. I know everyone treats it like this masterpiece but I just couldn’t get past the first 200 pages – felt like Wallace was trying too hard to be clever, you know? The footnotes thing became more annoying than interesting after while.
But if you’re looking for high-class storytelling, maybe try The Shadow of Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafón? Has that same intricate plotting like Count of Monte Cristo but with this beautiful gothic atmosphere. Also Borges’ Labyrinths if you want something more abstract – his short stories are like perfectly crafted puzzles that stay with you for days.
