I am looking for a good book that's either popular science,an underrated biography, or anything based in reality that's not aiming to improve the reader's life by deafult (think all those self-optimization books).
There are many books out there, but I simply can't tell which ones are wirth reading and not just a random collection of fun facts. I care about a well-researched book.
The fields I DON'T need to cover anymore: physics & chemistry, dinosaurs, history of medicine in Europe, medical herbs. I love all of those, but already have some really good books or podcasts (or work in the field).
Really any idea is appreciated. I brainstormed a few ideas below, but I'm open for whatever book you recommend.
– Language (development, etymology, cultures that influenced each other, etc).
– Biology or geology. Deep sea, volcanoes, facts about species and their habitat? You name it.
– Psychology or health. These are tricky without going into self-improvement books.
– Books about people or cultures that influence our time beyond their own existence.
– etc etc
