Im finding more and more that I love characters more than plot. Plot is great of course, but if I love the character I could read them doing nothing much at all and enjoy every word.
Some of my favorites are Piranesi, Jack, the father from the Shining, Gus from Lonesome Dove, and the boy from Catcher in the Rye.
What are books worth reading just to meet the great characters? BTW, it can have a great plot too lol just not required

*His Dark Materials* by Philip Pullman.
Fevre Dream by George RR Martin. I swear the main character was just a self-insert of himself who was very passionate about steamboats so much so that I found myself thinking you know what steamboats are pretty cool huh??
