My (30F) SIL (34) has been struggling with some of the downtime she’s been experiencing postpartum and I wanted to start a little book club to give her something fun to focus on. The thing is, her reading taste is pretty different than mine, so I don’t know many good books in the genres she said she likes best. I like a bit of everything, but lean toward classic lit, fantasy, romance, and older whodunnits. She likes more contemporary, less descriptive and wordy stuff, and specifically mentioned adventure books and murder mysteries.
Does anyone have recommendations for adventure books or murder mysteries that aren’t too wordy or description-heavy? Things that are faster-paced or thrilling, would fill nap time well, but would also avoid any kind of child-harm that might be triggering to a new mom? Bonus points for a cool, lady protagonist. Author recs are also welcome!
I would also love to know if anyone has recommendations for book-club related resources, like maybe there’s a website full of book lists I’ve never heard of? Anyhoo, thanks in advance.
