If you go to the YA Section of a bookstore, you don't see many YA books, rather more tween books. (Diary Of A Wimpy Kid is not YA!)
Authors like Gordon Korman are peak, but his books are meant for 12 year olds. I've also read "Counting by 7s", "Front Desk", and "Fish in a Tree", and while these were good when I was 13, but I've gotten a lot older again and am looking for more mature books.
Googling "books for teenage girls" gets you results like "To All The Boys", "One Of Us Is Lying", "The Summer I Turned Pretty", "A Good Girl's Guide To Murder" and "A Court Of Thrones And Roses", books that do look good but I'm not quite ready for those yet.
I haven't yet found any good books that fall into that perfect spot. Could I possibly have suggestions, please?
Thank you.
Edit: I really only like realistic fiction, and one book that hit nearly the good spot was Bruiser by Neal Shusterman, on a scale of 1-10 (1 being too juvenile and 10 being too mature, I'd like it a 6-7. I'm being serious and not trying to make a 67 joke)
