Hey there 👋🏼 one of my goals this year is to read more books. When I was a kid I absolutely LOVED reading and would get lost in fiction books. I started struggling with reading in high school and much later figured out that my ADHD was what I was up against when it came to actually “ingesting” the words off the page into my brain.
I want to get myself back into it. Over the last few years, the few books I have read have been primarily non-fiction because I felt like I had to read with a productive purpose. This year I want to change that. I’ve wrangled my ADHD challenges a bit and want to feel the same “lost in a book” feeling I used to feel when I was a kid.
Genres I’m curious about include historical fiction, crime fiction, thrillers, fantasy, LGBTQ+ themes, light romance is ok just trying to avoid the “hallmark movie in book form” 😆 I’ve also realized that my literature curriculums in school were very lacking when it came to the classics, so any you’d think will help light the spark would be great.
I appreciate any suggestions, thank you!
