Over the past few years two of my favorite books that I’ve read were Unbroken and The Boys in the Boat. Both were true stories that inspired be based on the grit of the characters, the adversity they overcame, and were incredibly gripping to me based on the writing styles and research done by both authors. Are there any books in this same vein that you would recommend?
Both books were set in the WWII era but that is a coincidence and need not apply do any of your recommendations. Additionally, the main characters were athletes but also need not apply to your recs.
Thanks!

Anything written by Erik Larson or Adam Makos. Both do an excellent job of researching and wrote in a narrative style.
