Hello all, I adored reading as a child but am struggling to find any books that captivate my 7 year old son in the same way. Some books/authors we've tried:
Beast quest – he LOVED this series for a while but then went off them
Faraway tree – I loved this series as a child but he couldn't get into it. I think the writing was too flowery for him
Dogman – just doesn't seem interested
Captain underpants – ditto
Beano magazine – ditto
Roald Dahl – he finds these OK, especially the twits. Probably the author he likes most but wouldn't go out of his way to listen to the books.
Dick King Smith – wasn't interested at all
Any suggestions of authors or books would be much appreciated. He doesn't like anything scary. He has a typical reading ability for a 7 year old and I'm also happy to read books to him (I'd do it all day if I could!). Perhaps something adventurous might be up his street.
