I recently read Pablo Tusset”s croissant book. I love his cynical humorous writing. I am searching a book to address a cynical perfectionist’s burn out by providing a way out and a sense of relief.
I have the filling suggested list:
-
Franny and Zooeyby Salinger
-
The man who planted trees by Jean Giono
-
Stoner by John Williams
Does anyone has any opinion about theses books? Any other suggestion is welcomed!

Those are solid picks, especially Stoner – Williams captures that quiet exhaustion of life grinding you down in a way thats oddly comforting. Franny and Zooey might hit different though, lots of philosophical wrestling that could either help or make the burnout worse depending on your headspace
If youre looking for something with that Tusset cynical edge but more restorative, maybe try Hank Green’s “An Absolutely Remarkable Thing” or go classic with Vonnegut’s “Cat’s Cradle”
