Murder mysteries and crime never appealed to me, but now I somehow got into it via fantasy murder mysteries.

I tried Robert Galbraith (because I expected to find the prose good enough) and find that I do enjoy these novels.

So I am looking for recommendations. One caveat though: not too horrible and I do need likeable/loveable detectives/investigators/main characters.

    1. Elly Griffiths’ Ruth Galloway series

      Ann Cleeves’ Vera series

Richard Osman’s Thursday Murder Club series and We Solve Murders series

    2. I think you’re looking for the Cozy Crime genre. The best known series in that genre is the Thursday Murder Club series by Richard Osman.

Personally I’m not a fan, though; one I really liked is Kate Atkinsons’ Jackson Brodie series. It’s well written, Jackson’s not perfect but generally a cool dude, and they’re not very violent (at least, not compared to a lot of other books).
