i’ve never truly read a book where i had to put it down and take a breather or cry into my pillow. I’ve just finished a little life as it was recommended to me as a mental destroyer but I didn’t really feel that…and i know it doesn’t have a good rep but i thought i would try it. I don’t mind romance but id rather that not be the focal point. Something beautifully written that will make me feel something. I love a good plot twist like anyone and something that could challenge what I believe. This is probably so vague but whenever I look for recs I always get cliche boring romance….i need deep and gritty.

not sure if this is the kind of book you’re looking for, but slaughterhouse-five by vonnegut was one of those can’t-stop-thinking-about-it-life-is-meaningless books for me. i wouldn’t even necessarily say i liked it? but if you’re looking for something to make you really upset that book did it for me.
