Plenty of business books talk about getting the right people in the right seats or aligning people's talents to their roles. What about people who have very little to contribute? Ideally, they'd be coached and then improve or be fired.
But sometimes, they're there to stay. Son-in-law of a VP, college buddy of the CTO, silver-tongued at the right moments, protected by union, etc.
I have worked under, above and alongside people like this. It's a frustrating and enduring phenomenon. What are some good books about getting the most out of your business when you have dead weight on the team?
