Okay but can we talk about how I went into The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo thinking I was about to unravel some glamorous old-Hollywood mystery, only to realize Evelyn wasn’t hiding secrets for suspense, she was strategically collecting husbands like stepping stones to conquer Hollywood?
Not the suspense I expected, but a powerful look at image, sacrifice, and what it costs to build a legend.

I dont think it was ever marketed as mystery. It’s a drama lit.
Did you pick up the wrong book and meant to read to The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle by Stuart Turton? It came out around the same time and a mystery.
