Desperately seeking good murder mysteries – unfortunately I have very specific taste. I would love something that is just like Agatha Christie's Poirot books (I've read all of them). I don't enjoy Mrs. Marple as I find she talks too much and I am generally irritated by the quirkiness of her character.
Other mysteries I've liked:
The Likeness by Tana French – generally liked this though it was too long and literary for what I prefer in this genre
The Moonflower Murders by Anthony Horowitz – I thought the book-within-a-book concept was a bit contrived and tedious (honestly, I skipped that entire part) but otherwise I thought this was decently enjoyable.
Authors I've tried and disliked:
Lucy Foley – I cannot stand her writing or her characters (I've tried four of her books, she's just not for me)
Dorothy L Sayers
Louise Penny

Would definitely recommend the Horowitz and Hawthorne series by Anthony Horowitz. I much preferred them to Moonflower murders!
Try martha grimes. pretty similar if you like christie
Try Artists in Crime by Ngaio Marsh. If you like that, she’s got plenty more 🙂
