I randomly came across a short book the other day that’s formatted like a serious adult self-help guide, but it’s actually just instructions on how to completely sabotage your life.
Stuff like treating minimum credit card payments as a strategy, turning performance reviews into power plays, escalating minor relationship issues into full audits, etc. It even has “expert tips” after each section, which makes it funnier because it stays completely deadpan.
It wasn’t motivational at all, more like a parody of productivity culture and modern adulthood. Kind of felt like intrusive thoughts written in a very organized way.
Now I’m curious if there are other books that use that fake-advice / structured guide format but are clearly satire.
Any recommendations?
