I want some book recommendations where there is/are scenes where the female lead undergoes real torture/excruciating pain before being rescued. Bonus if the mmc later realises she is not a pampered princess as he assumed, but a strong lady.

    For example:

\* The part where Kestrel (the fmc) has to undergo a knee surgery in The Winner’s Curse after she fights to protect Arin. I also love the part where Kestrel is imprisoned and undergoes torture and punishment and the part where Arin rescues her in the third book and her healing journey.

\* There is a scene in the Kiss of Deception trilogy (i think the initial part of the third book) where the fmc is struck with arrows and has to undergo an impromptu surgery

\* There are many scenes like these towards the end of The Court of thorns and Roses book

\* There are many such instances in the Throne of Glass series.

\* There is a scene in the 2nd or 3rd book of L.A.Weatherly’s The Broken Trilogy where Amity escapes the prison and is shot and her plane crash-lands and the mmc somehow rescues her.

\* The scene towards the end of Pennies by Pepper Winters where the villain cuts off the fmc’s tongue, almost, before rescued by the mmc. She loses consciousness due to blood loss. Then, in the second book, i love it how the doctor makes the very many diagnoses of her health and how the mmc should take care of her with care.

\* In the second book of Tears of Tess trilogy, Tess is kidnapped by the enemies and tortured before the mmc saves her.

\* And one of my all time favs: how towards the end of the Sea of Ruin by Pam Godwin, the fmc is brutally beaten up by an enemy, her hand broken and the bone protruding, she looses her hearing, and her battered body is left hanging before the good guys rescue her. She also undergoes a surgery without anaesthesia later and the chapters on her recovery are very good.

Trigger warnings are not an issue.

I love it when the fmc and mmc have a good chemistry. Bonus if the writing includes witty dialogues.

If you know books with this trope, please recommend.
