    Hi everyone,

I’m trying to build a habit of reading, but I’m honestly a complete beginner. I haven’t read consistently in a long time and don’t really know where to start.

I’m open to any genre — fiction, self-improvement, philosophy, anything that’s engaging and not too overwhelming for someone new to reading.

How did you start your reading habit?
    Any beginner-friendly book recommendations?

To start out, I recommend short story collections. They have digestible stopping points and dont require long term info assimulation. I lean hard into horror and find that short stories pull it off well, because there is no need to explain everything, the charcters dont have to survive for endings or sequels, and the pace is faster. Some recs: *Corpsemouth and Other Autobiographies* by Langan, *Night Shift* by King, *Behold the Void* by Fracassi, and *Books of Blood* by Barker.
